Traveling across the country to take on the San Francisco 49ers is a difficult situation for virtually every team in the National Football League.

The New York Giants, however, were forced to do so on a short week and without the best player on their team, Saquon Barkley.

Needless to say, the Thursday Night Football matchup between the two did not go as planned for the G-Men, who scored just one touchdown in the 30-12 loss.

To add insult to injury, a clip of Giants quarterback Daniel Jones looking deeply stressed while analyzing the 49ers defense prior to snapping the ball has gone viral.

Jones, as did the entire Giants team, struggled on Thursday, as he completed 22 of 32 passes for just 137 yards and a touchdown. He also also ineffective on the ground, carrying the ball twice for five yards.

Thanks to their impressive comeback win against the Arizona Cardinals the week before, the loss against the Niners puts the Giants’ record at 1-2. Still, Brian Daboll’s men don’t look like the same playoff-game-winning unit they were last year.

As for the Niners, their beatdown of the Giants brings them to 3-0 and further establishes their claim as perhaps the best team in the NFL in the early goings of the 2023 season.

The Giants now have ten days off, as their next game will be a home Monday Night Football matchup against the Seattle Seahawks on October 2. If the Giants are going to make it back to the playoffs this season, getting a win against the similarly positioned Seahawks will be crucial.

As for the 49ers, they’ll be heading to Arizona, where they’ll likely steamroll the Cardinals, on October 1 before traveling to Dallas for what will likely be the marquee matchup of the NFL season so far to take on Dak Prescott and the Cowboys.
