On Tuesday, Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice finally admitted to law enforcement that, yes, he was involved in the six-vehicle crash over the weekend that’s garnered national attention.

Not that he had much choice.

There was the video that was released on Monday of people fleeing the scene which appears to show Rice was either a driver or passenger in one of the cars.

Then there was the fact that the Lamborghini involved in the crash was rented by Rashee Rice from a Dallas-based luxury car rental company called The Classic Lifestyle, according to NBC DFW News.

According to attorney Kyle Coker, who spoke to TMZ, shortly after the crash, Rice texted the company, admitting that he was involved in the crash and promising to pay for the totaled Lamborghini.

Plus, police believe that Rice was either the driver of the Lamborghini or the Corvette, the other car that was part of the reason for the pileup.

Dashcam footage of the accident appears to show Rice was the driver of one of the cars.

Now, a Dallas couple – a 46-year-old woman and 42-year-old man – that were injured in the hit-and-run collision have retained an attorney and are said to be considering filing a lawsuit.

Attorney Tennessee Walker, speaking to the Dallas Morning News, said, “They’re angry at the situation. From our perspective and their perspective, it doesn’t really matter who the people are but just the human decency element of it — the decent thing to do is to make sure that no one is harmed and comply with your legal obligations.”

Their sentiments echo that of 27-year-old mother of two, Kayla Quinn, who was another one of the people caught up in the crash.

“Y’all just caused a six-car accident and didn’t one person have no sympathy, no sympathy to check on anybody like careless, heartless,” she said.

So far, all she wants is an apology.

Walker’s clients, however, may be looking for more from Rashee Rice after the woman had to be extracted from their vehicle and suffered a “significant laceration” above her left eye that required multiple stitches. She also suffered injuries to her right leg and ankle and both claim to be suffering from post-concussion symptoms.

“It’s a difficult position for a victim to be put in when the circumstances involve a public figure and there’s just an additional level of stress and anxiety,” Walker said.

“They’re primarily focused on dealing with their injuries, but on top of that, not having all the information that should be provided to them at the scene of the incident or provided to authorities to get to them, it complicates life, in addition to just dealing with the physical and mental injuries.”

He says that a lawsuit is “likely.”

A separate yet-to-be named victim who was in an Uber that was hit in the crash is also mulling their legal options.
