The New England Patriots are making moves to bolster their receiving corps as they reportedly prepare to host free-agent wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins for a visit next week.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Hopkins, who was recently released by the Arizona Cardinals, has been a sought-after target in the free-agent market.

Hopkins is already scheduled to visit the Tennessee Titans on Sunday before making his way to New England for his visit with the Patriots.

The Patriots’ interest in Hopkins comes as no surprise, as they have been linked to the talented wideout for some time now. Adding a top pass-catcher like Hopkins would provide a significant boost to their offense and give quarterback Mac Jones a reliable target to work with.

One intriguing aspect of a potential Hopkins-Patriots union is the reunion it would create between Hopkins and Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien.

O’Brien served as the head coach and general manager of the Houston Texans during Hopkins’ earlier years in the league. During that time, Hopkins thrived in O’Brien’s offense, earning All-Pro honors three times.

Despite some reported issues between the two during their time in Houston, enough time has passed since their last encounter for a fresh start and a potential reunion in New England.

Next week’s visits to the Titans and the Patriots will provide further clarity on Hopkins’ future and which team he might join for the upcoming football season.

Despite facing some challenges during the 2022 season, including a suspension for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy and missing several games, Hopkins demonstrated his value as a top-tier wide receiver.

In just nine starts, he put up impressive numbers, recording 64 receptions for 717 yards and three touchdowns. These statistics underscore his exceptional skills, playmaking abilities, and the impact he can have on an offense.
