It’s no secret that Deion Sanders has become a hot name in the coaching cycle of college football. The Jackson State head coach has put the Tigers on the map after years of HBCU schools getting no love for years. We’ll see what Sanders does, but it sounds like the school has a trick up its sleeve to keep him as head coach for the long haul.

Jackson State To Build New Stadium In Hopes To Keep Deion Sanders As HC

According to Sports Illustrated, “Jackson city council leaders unanimously approved a resolution to support the construction of a new football stadium for the program, hoping to aid in keeping Sanders with the program and in Jackson, Mississippi for a long time.”

Jackson and the state of Mississippi clearly love what Deion Sanders is doing as the head coach of the Tigers. Kenneth Stokes, a councilman of Mississippi, hopes to see Sanders on the sideline for a long time, per Sports Illustrated.

“It’s just the perfect time, if we’re going to get a new stadium, to start talking… and let’s try to make it a reality. We’re all hoping that Coach Prime stays in the city for a long period of time. … Maybe if we can show, as a state, that we are committed to him staying, and to the new stadium, maybe it would help encourage him to stay.”

We’ll see how it all plays out. Deion Sanders has been vocal about possibly working for a big college football program. He’s also called the process hypocritical, as none of his players have received much attention as transfer options. Keep an eye on Jackson State for now, as the Tigers are about to build a brand-new stadium.

However, it may or may not work to keep Sanders in town. Regardless, it’s worth a shot.
