December is Coach Prime’s favorite time of the year. It has nothing to do with the holiday season, nor does it involve Colorado’s bowl game plans.

Monday is ‘Portal Day,’ and Deion Sanders already has his sights set on the next round of newcomers.

Sanders made waves last year with a complete overhaul of the Colorado roster. Bringing in his own “Louis Vuitton luggage,” he gave a 1-11 Buffaloes squad an instant facelift.

An immediate return on investment was seen with the Buffs winning their first three games of the season.

First-year players like Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter made huge impacts, though not everyone was happy about the transactional approach to the transfer market.

Parents, former players, and opposing coaches bashed Coach Prime for his unprecedented use of the portal, but it doesn’t sound like Sanders intends to change this offseason.

Looking to continue building the program in his own unique way, he’s hoping a few more additions can lead to a speedy turnaround.

On Monday, he appeared on the Dan LeBatard Show to talk about his team’s needs and outlook.

A Hyped Deion Sanders previews ‘Portal Day.’

“We didn’t know how to win,” Sanders said when asked about his 4-8 season. “We didn’t have those 8-10 players that we needed to get us over the hump. But guess what today is? It’s Portal Day!!”

An excited Coach Prime has his sights set on one particular position group this offseason.

“I’m not hard to find and guess what I’m finding… Linemen! You guys watched us play. What did you say? ‘Man, if they had some linemen, those guys would be right there.’ That’s what today is. PORTAL DAY! I’m going to get those things you said I needed.”

Sanders expects to be one of the more active coaches in the transfer market again this year, though he may not bring in quite as many newcomers as last season.

We’ll see if he’s able to land a few talented blockers in the portal to improve the offensive attack.
