Delanie Walker spent 14 seasons in the NFL, split evenly between the San Franciso 49ers and the Tennessee Titans.

He was a 3-time NFL Pro Bowler with the Titans and one of the league’s most effective tight ends during his 7-year run with the Titans until 2019.

Delanie Walker was also paid handsomely for his on-field contributions in the NFL. He earned a total of $48,690,653 over 14 seasons. The breakdown was around $8M with the 49ers and $40.6M with the Titans.

I mention the money because that’s what the story below revolves around. Delanie Walker tells the Bussin’ With The Boys guys about the worst NFL rookie locker room prank he ever witnessed. First, he admits he never got hazed as a rookie but then tells a story about a rookie’s car getting stolen:

The player Delanie Walker was referring to in this story was Alfred Alonzo “A. J.” Jenkins Jr. He was drafted by the 49ers in the 1st Round of the 2012 NFL Draft, Delanie’s last season with San Francisco.

AJ Jenkins arrived in San Franciso as the 30th overall NFL Draft pick and the expectations were high after he received a $3,492,752 signing bonus from the 49ers. He earned a total of $5,610,143 in his 3 seasons in the NFL which is a lot of money.

Regardless of how much money is in the bank, having your car stolen and left at the airport where it racks up fees for several weeks and you get stuck with a $10,000 bill is awful. If I was in his shoes the first thing I would have done is asked for the security footage to prove my car was taken without my permission. He could have fought that bill instead of forking over the $10K+ to get his car out of the airport.

It’s been about 3 years since Delanie Walker was last in the NFL and he’s missed. This classic Dennis Green quote from 2019 when he trolled the Cleveland Browns was excellent:

Delanie Walker’s time in the NFL included some wild moments

The health protocols in the NFL change quickly. And it is hard to believe this story from Delanie Walker was just 3 years ago. He discussed getting an IV on the field that was administered wrong and led to fluid in his lungs. He said he “damn near died” during the game:

“I got fluid in my lungs and damn near died almost in the game,” Walker said (h/t Titans beat writer Paul Kuharsky and Charean Williams of ProFootballTalk). “The [person who administered the IV] just wasn’t paying attention and the fluid was out so air seeped into my…”

At that point, podcast co-host and Titans offensive tackle Taylor Lewan interjected.

“If you get a certain amount of CCs of air in your blood system…like 100 CCs will kill you,” Lewan said. “If you get enough, it will make your heart dilate in a certain way.”

It’s hard to imagine what that must’ve been like on the field during a game.
