DeMarcus Cousins might just have the worst luck of any athlete on the planet right now, and that’s saying something. Think about it: In the past 18 months or so, the All-Star big man tore his Achilles right before an offseason where he was about to get paid. Then, because of the injury, he had to take a one-year deal to work himself back and try to chase a ring with the Golden State Warriors. After rehabbing, Boogie returned and, wait for it, got injured again during the NBA Playoffs last season — and he didn’t even get the ring he was after. And now, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Cousins just suffered another injury, this time to his knee during a workout in Las Vegas, which forced him to leave the court of further tests.
Lakers center DeMarcus Cousins has suffered a possible knee injury and will undergo further testing today in Los Angeles, league sources tell ESPN. Cousins was working out in Las Vegas on Monday when he had to leave the court, sources said. He signed a one-year deal in July.

After signing a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason to help form a loaded frontcourt with Anthony Davis, DeMarcus Cousins’ future is now up in the air with the team. Nobody knows how serious this latest injury might be, but early reports are pretty broad, meaning it could be another devastating blow to the talented forward.
As for the psyche of Cousins, who knows how that might be impacted? Remember, in an interview with Rachel Nichols during the NBA Playoffs, Boogie talked about how he actually considered retiring following his quad injury he suffered, so could this be another emotional setback? Obviously, here’s to hoping the latest injury to DeMarcus Cousins isn’t anything serious. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see what the prognosis is, and see what it might mean for the future of both his career and the Lakers’ season. Such a devastating blow.
