The Memphis Grizzlies are arguably the most fun team in the NBA at the moment. Ja Morant having a legitimate MVP caliber season thus far is a huge part as to why they’re so fun to watch, but he’s certainly not the only reason.

The Grizzlies play a certain style of basketball and with a noticeable ‘I don’t give a f-ck’ attitude that’s intriguing to every NBA fan. The fact that Memphis is also the second-youngest team in the league, and has won 12 of its last 13 games, is forcing a lot of eyeballs to pay attention to what’s going down in the 901.

Speaking of youngsters on the Grizzlies, second-year guard Desmond Bane has been lethal this season and has firmly played his way into conversations for Most Improved Player of the Year. The 23-year-old is the team’s third-leading scorer averaging just shy of 18 points per game and is shooting 42.5% from beyond the arc after averaging just seven points a season ago.

Bane’s ability to put the ball in the hole has made him a fan favorite on its own, but the fact that he’ll talk trash to anyone on the floor takes things to another level.

During the Grizzlies’ matchup with the Lakers back on January 9, Bane got into it with LeBron James. With the Grizz up 20 at the time, James had heard enough trash talk out of Memphis and started mouthing off, which the Grizzlies responded to by literally laughing at him.

It’s pretty easy to assume that James was overly frustrated given the fact that his team was getting embarrassed on their homecourt.

There’s more to the story though, as Bane told Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports that they had been jawing since early on in the game.

“Early on in the game, I get an and-one and he’s walking all up next to me and he pushed me so I turn around and I’m like ‘we’re not gonna do that,'” Bane explained. “So we were already chirping in the first half, and then I hit a three in the second half and he comes behind me with his footsteps and I’m like ‘them footsteps ain’t scaring nobody.'”

“We come back down the other end and I think he had a turnover, Ja gets fouled, and right then and there we’re going at it.”

Bane and the Grizzlies have backed up every bit of their trash talk as they went on a franchise-record 11-game winning streak earlier this season.
