The Detroit Lions’ social media team is still thinking about a blown officiating call during a game against the Dallas Cowboys. That mistake would cost the NFC North leaders a win.

Trailing 20-13 late in the fourth quarter, the Lions scored a touchdown to cut into the deficit. Rather than go for the tie and overtime, head coach Dan Campbell went for the win.

The offense trotted back out onto the field, setting up a two-point play that appeared to work to perfection.

Offensive lineman Taylor Decker lined up as an eligible receiver then hauled in a Jared Goff pass in the back of the endzone. That two-point conversion would put the Lions up 21-20 with just 23 seconds left in play.

After a lengthy discussion, however, the officiating crew opted to toss some laundry onto the field.

The referees determined that Decker hadn’t reported, meaning he was not an eligible receiver after all.

Video showed that Decker and another lineman walked up to the head crew member, appearing to communicate intent to report. That message was not relayed, leading to controversy.

The two points were taken off the scoreboard, and a later try was unsuccessful as Detroit fell 20-19.

Lions social media team gets petty.

“Reporting for duty,” the caption read with a video showing Decker walking into the team facility.

Decker had some fun with the post, replying, “This is not me.”

The Lions then followed up with a similar video of Dan Skipper, the other offensive lineman that approached the officiating crew for that scrutinized two-point play.

“Here you are,” the Lions’ social media team responded.

Clearly, Detroit hasn’t let it go.
