The Florida State football team will undergo an incredible transformation in the 2025 season. After struggling to a 2-10 campaign last year, coach Mike Norvell attacked the transfer portal in the offseason.
He’s attempting to fill weaknesses with experienced players on the recruiting trail. One of those newcomers is wide receiver Duce Robinson.
Robinson previously played for USC after signing with the Trojans as a five-star prospect. Initially considered a tight end, he was the top player at his position. Across two seasons in Los Angeles, he tallied 747 yard and seven touchdowns on 39 catches.
Robinson’s father, Dominic, played football at Florida State. His son will now do the same. Duce Robinson hit the portal after the 2024 season. He’ll now look to become a weapon in the Seminoles‘ offense.
If spring practice is any indication, he’ll be used early and often by Mike Norvell. Robinson was spotted skying for a contested catch this week over a much smaller defender.

The cornerback in that video is 6-foot-2 Quindarrius Jones. His new teammate made him look miniscule while hauling in that deep pass.
Robinson stands 6-foot-6. He towers over a number of roster members, but he’s not the tallest player in his position group. That honor goes to receiver Jordan Scott, who’s 6-foot-7.

The height will be welcomed by new starting signal caller Thomas Castellanos. The Boston College transfer is another of those Florida State newcomers expected to make an instant impact on offense.
With the Eagles, he threw for 3,614 yards over two seasons. He posted an 18-to-5 touchdown to interception ratio in 2024. Despite the performance, he was benched by head coach Bill O’Brien. He seeks a fresh start with the ‘Noles.
Duce Robinson will look to make Castellanos’s job easier in 2025. The five-star giant is already making an impact. He hopes to continue his progress and eventually land a starting role with his new team.
