The Duke Blue Devils unveiled their 2023 football schedule on Monday, and they did so in a clever way. The social media team grabbed different aspects of each opponent on the slate and used that as a way of announcing their weekly foes.

The schedule release took light-hearted shots at Dabo Swinney, Notre Dame, and more. Many online were reacting to the game-by-game announcement.

They knocked a few of these out of the park, starting with a Week 1 matchup with Clemson. Kicking things off with a bang, Duke went after Tigers’ head football coach Dabo Swinney.

Swinney is often mocked by college football fans for his running down the hill at Memorial Stadium. The Blue Devils played this one so well that even Clemson fans got in on the joke.

One Tigers’ supporter wrote, “Good tweet, Duke football.” Another said, “Not the Dabo run.”

The Blue Devils weren’t done, though.

Week 3 consisted of a High School Musical theme for Northwestern before the Duke mascot is spotted eating a bowl of Lucky Charms to signify a Week 5 meeting with the Fighting Irish.

And it wouldn’t be a schedule drop without a crab legs reference to note a matchup with Florida State. It never gets old.

Folks around the program seem excited for the season ahead, and why wouldn’t they be after experiencing their best year in nearly a decade?

Last season, the Blue Devils won nine games, culminating with a win over UCF in the Military Bowl. Those nine wins nearly matched the total from the team’s previous three seasons combined.

Second-year head coach Mike Elko will be back in hopes of keeping the turnaround going full steam ahead. The slate will be tough as Duke will face off against notable college football powers in Notre Dame, Clemson, and Florida State. We’ll see if they can match their success from the year before.
