The Philadelphia Eagles had a disastrous ending to the 2023 NFL season. It was as stark of a collapse as we’ve seen in the NFL in recent years.

Ultimately, after a 10-1 start, serious issues with the roster all seemed to pop up at once. They lost six of their last seven games, including an embarrassing playoff exit against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

One of the biggest holes for the Philadelphia Eagles was at linebacker. Simply put, there wasn’t an above-average starter at inside linebacker on the team last year. Nakobe Dean couldn’t stay healthy, and guys like Zach Cunningham and Nicholas Morrow were pretty big liabilities.

General manager Howie Roseman sought to upgrade the box linebacker position in free agency, and he landed former Tampa Bay Buccaneer Devin White on Thursday.

Yes, Devin White was absolutely terrible last year for the Buccaneers. The former Pro Bowl and All-Pro selection had his worst season in the league, by far, last year. He finished with a PFF grade of under 50. But, he just turned 26-years-old, and has played at an elite level in the past. Just take a look at the work he did for the Buccaneers during their Super Bowl run in the 2020 season. Devin White completely dominated those playoffs with his sideline-to-sideline ability.

The Eagles are hoping to get that version of Devin White next year as they look to once again return to Super Bowl contention. Devin White playing well would be a huge part of that.
