On Monday it was reported that former LSU Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron was in the running for the UNLV Rebels job. Many speculated what that might be like considering the stories we’ve heard about him during his time at LSU. Orgeron living in Las Vegas sure sounds like a wild time. However, it now appears those rumors were false.

According to Bruce Feldman, the Ed Orgeron rumors are false. In fact, Orgeron himself denies there is any connection between himself and UNLV and even claims he, “has no interest.” Feldman also provides an update for the Chris Peterson rumors as well, as apparently, those were false as well.

So, although the idea of Ed Orgeron coaching a Las Vegas team could be fun for the fans and media, it doesn’t sound like he’ll be coaching there anytime soon. He hasn’t coached anywhere since LSU let him go in 2021. Even so, Orgeron’s name pops up as a potential candidate from time to time.

Also, considering he won a national championship with the Tigers, it’s hard to imagine Ed Orgeron coaching at a smaller program. If UNLV were to hire a big-name head coach like that, it would be insane news.

With that, we can put the Ed Orgeron to UNLV rumors to rest. Maybe he’ll eventually sign elsewhere. But for now, Orgeron doesn’t seem to be on anybody’s radar.
