Eddie Pepperell Shot One Of The Best Rounds Of The Open With A Nasty Hangover

Everybody knows drinking more than you should is one of the best ways to help forget you had a rough day at work— even though half the time you’ll wake up with a hangover that will make the next day somehow even more miserable as if Wednesdays aren’t long enough already.

At most jobs, you can get away with working with a splitting headache and a case of the shakes— you just have to be prepared to tell someone your cologne is whiskey-based if it seems like they suspect anything. However, there are certain professions where showing up with a hangover is, at the very least, severely frowned upon.

While it might have worked out for Jon Daly, the only time you should really be stepping onto a golf course with a hangover is when you couldn’t snag a later tee time on the weekend. This is especially true if you happen to be a professional golfer competing in one of the most prestigious tournaments in the world like Eddie Pepperell was when he competed at The Open this weekend.

After shooting over 70 in his first three rounds, the Englishman decided to drown his sorrows on Saturday while presumably preparing to phone it in the following day. However, in addition to stopping himself from vomiting on the links of Carnoustie, he also managed to shoot one of the best rounds of the entire tournament on his way to an eventual sixth-place tie.

Congratulations to Pepperell for having a “Time I Got Too Drunk” story for the ages.
