One of the most memorable moments of the Tom Brady Roast Sunday night was the brutally awkward interaction between Bill Belichick and Robert Kraft.

As it turns out, that cringey moment on stage wasn’t the first time that evening that Bill Belichick and his former boss ran into each other.

Tuesday on the Games with Names podcast, two of the roast attendees, Julian Edelman and Drew Bledsoe, recounted a story about The Hoodie running into Kraft backstage before the show.

“Pre-show we’re in the green room,” Julian Edelman revealed. “Bill’s opening up, he’s having fun. He’s talking war stories, talking rookie skits, talking fun s—.

“Doing s— we know Bill’s all about, but it was amplified because he was excited to see guys. Because he doesn’t have a job anymore.

“Randy, Drew, me, and Gronk, we were just chilling in there.”

“And my brother and my buddy,” Bledsoe added. “And the the funny thing is or interesting thing is, I think, I was kind of gone when it first sort of happened, but, and then Kraft walks in.

“That’s what I was about to just…” Edelman then said.

“Right, yeah, and then Kraft walks in and so my brother was feeling sorry for himself because every he’s over there and Belichick is kind of holding court. Well, as he’s in the middle of the story Kraft walks in and so you guys all go over to say out a Kraft and the last man standing to hear him tell the last man standing is my bro and like, ‘well, Bill’s telling the story, if I leave then he’s telling the story to nobody cuz everybody’s over saying hi to Kraft.’

“And then, but they did they did break it down and got together for I don’t know, probably, I don’t know, 10 minutes at least the two of them.

“The tension in that room though,” Edelman added.

“It was, it was real,” Bledsoe added. “It was very real.”

“Could cut f—— glass,” Edelman explained.

“I was so awkward. I was like, I was watching coach and I tried to give coach a heads up. I see Kraft walk in, I’m like, ‘yo coach,’ you know like some locker room s—, like 5-0, 5-0, you know?

“Of course he didn’t f—— see it and he came in I was like oh s— there’s going to be some fireworks I just walked away.”

As for whether that moment where Tom Brady appeared to scold Jeff Ross for mocking Robert Kraft with a massage joke, Bledsoe thought it was genuine.

“That was an authentic moment,” Bledsoe said. “We’re sitting up on the stage so I can see the teleprompter, I can see what’s scripted and what’s not, and that was not scripted. Tom came up and made sure they weren’t getting after our buddy RKK.”

Bledsoe also revealed that his wife Maura actually wrote the Gisele Bundchen joke he told.

“But the truth is, it was a replacement for a joke that I had written that was far worse and she said, ‘No, you can’t do that one.’ And so she helped me write something that was a little bit more of a softball,” Bledsoe admitted.
