All 14 Southeastern Conference head football coaches gathered in Destin, Florida on Tuesday. After an explosive offseason full of drama amongst some of the biggest names in the league, there was sure to be some pretty significant conversations had.

But it was the conversations had offline that Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz was worried about.

The meeting’s seating chart was arranged in alphabetical order by school. With that order, Drinkwitz was seated right next to Mississippi State head coach Mike Leach.

Leach, as we know, is always making conversation about a myriad of different topics. Whether it be pirates, mascots or a two-minute long rant about why cargo shorts are superior, he is always up to something.

Drinkwitz knew what he was getting into — well, assigned to — and didn’t want to get in trouble. It’s like he was next to the chatty kid in class and didn’t want to be included in Leach’s behavior. He didn’t want to be guilty by association for talking in class or for seemingly being involved in his conversation.

Lane Kiffin, who is very well-acquainted with Leach from their time in the Pac-12 and now as in-state rivals, completely agreed with Drinkwitz.

Ultimately, the day ended without any bloodshed or detentions. Except for Kiffin’s dog Juice.

Leach must have behaved himself because nobody had to stay after class.
