While much of the NFL world seems to be heavily invested in the debate around whether Eli Manning is a Hall of Fame quarterback or not, Manning himself — perhaps unsurprisingly — doesn’t seem to be all that bent out of shape about it.
During a recent interview with former Super Bowl winning NFL head coach Jon Gruden, two-time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning was asked about his feelings on being inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Known for his unflappable personality during his playing days, Manning displayed that same chill demeanor when answering Gruden’s question, saying that it “does not keep him up at night.”
Former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning shared his very chill perspective on whether he’s inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame
“It doesn’t keep me up at night. I’m not gonna be bitter at it. I’m not bitter at the game of football. I loved my teammates. I love the relationships, the friendships, the championships, the parades,” Manning said in a recent interview with Jon Gruden.
“When I think about football, I think about touchdowns and my buddies and wins and plane rides home. I don’t think about the interceptions. I don’t think about the bad stuff. I think about the positive things. And so if I ever get in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, I’ll take it as a positive and I’m not gonna think about the years I had to wait to get in.”
During his 16 seasons in the NFL, all with the New York Giants, Manning had a 60.3% completion percentage and threw for 57,023 yards, 366 touchdowns and 244 interceptions. He was also selected to play in 4 Pro Bowls, won the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award, and started in 210 consecutive regular season games.
