Sacramento Kings rookie Emanuel Sharp in front of the screen at a movie theater
Art is subjective, and everyone has their own particular tastes when it comes to movies. That’s certainly the case with Sacramento Kings rookie Emanuel Sharp, who may be the only person who’s ever mentioned the titles he’s listed when he was asked to pick his favorite movies of all time.
There’s a wide array of criteria that both critics and viewers take into consideration when it comes to determining whether a movie is good or bad.
I think most people would agree there’s at least some degree of objectivity when it comes to evaluating aspects like acting, writing, and cinematography, but even some of the most widely acclaimed crowd-pleasers of all time have their detractions (as well as almost universally panned projects some people will earnestly defend).
I’ve certainly been guilty of failing to resist the urge to dunk on someone for having what I would consider a terrible opinion every now and then, but for the most part, I think people should be allowed to like what they like.
That’s the case with one NBA player who’s currently gearing up for his first season with the Kings, but I can’t help but be somewhat fascinated with the movies he went with after getting the chance to share his top picks.
Emanuel Sharp’s list of his favorite movies needs to be seen to be believed
Emanuel Sharp is a guard who spent the past four seasons playing for the Houston Cougars before declaring for the 2026 NBA Draft. The Kings selected him in the second round with the 45th overall pick, and he recently arrived at training camp ahead of a season that will officially kick off when they face off against the Clippers on October 21st.
A reporter from Enjoy Basketball stopped by practice earlier this week and joined a media huddle where he referred to Sharp as a “big movie guy” before asking him to list his favorite films and, well, I’ll just let you watch for yourself.

Sharp kicked things off with Wrath of Man, the 2021 Jason Statham vehicle where the actor does what he does in basically every other movie he appears in (punch and shoot people who’ve crossed him).
That movie has a respectable 68% on Rotten Tomatoes, but that’s not the case with the infamous flop Sharp listed as his second choice: 2013’s The Lone Ranger, which featured Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp and sits at 31%.
He closed things out with Bird Box (64%), which became a bit of a cultural sensation when it dropped on Netflix in 2018; it was a solid horror movie but one that didn’t come close to becoming a classic.
Again, I can’t hate on Sharp for enjoying what he enjoys. However, based on the comments the video attracted, I’m far from the only person who was a bit flabbergasted by the picks on what is definitely one of the most unique Top Three lists I’ve ever encountered.
