Among the players in the 2026 FIFA World Cup there is no player that has seen a bigger glow up on the world stage than Erling Haaland which is saying a lot considering he has led the Premier League in goals scored on three separate seasons, including setting a record for goals scored in a debut season (36). Norway’s viking leader has captured the hearts of billions worldwide and along the way many have discovered Erling Haaland’s diet.

Haaland stands 6’5″ tall and weighs between 194 and 205 pounds on any given day. As a professional athlete he is constantly training to remain in peak physical condition. Consistency is key and with regards to Erling Haaland‘s diet that means eating 6,000 calories a day of specialized meals.

Erling Haaland got goosebumps watching fans sing the national anthem during the Stanley Cup Finals

Let me just preface this by saying I am personally blown away by Erling Haaland’s diet. I exercise a lot more than most my age. I’m running around 20-35 miles each week, swimming around 7,000 yards, cycling for a total of around 7-8 hours weekly, and I get in 2-4 weight lifting sessions between the endurance workouts.

I track everything I eat with MacroFactor in order to maintain my weight and muscle mass and currently my daily energy expenditure is around 2667 calories… Not even HALF of what Erling Haaland’s diet calls for each day.

Erling Haaland’s diet is said to be made up of ‘ancestral’ foods. He eats steak, eggs, fish, pasta (cooked without oil), raw milk, and Haaland is big on ‘organ meat,’ primarily liver and heart. Haaland also crushes a shake of kale, spinach, and milk for dark leafy greens. While this is an ad he posted a while back, Erling is heavily reliant on salmon in his diet as he demonstrates here:

On any given day, his diet might look like this… Breakfast: eggs on bread and coffee with milk and maple syrup (carbs!). For lunch he will have fish (swordfish is common for him), egg-fried rice, and fresh vegetables including asparagus. He also tacks on the ‘organ meats’ throughout the day so lunch will often include liver and/or heart.

For dinner, Erling will pack down fatty cuts of meat like a ribeye steak, often including duck in the meal as well. He’ll pair it with potatoes and salad as well as more milk. He places a major emphasis on whole foods, foods that are not highly-processed in any way, and nutrient/calorie dense foods.

As Erling has taken over the World Cup chatter for Norway, so has his diet. Many are wondering if they could tackle his diet of 6,000 calories/day. One YouTuber, Aventura Australia, tried to eat Erling Haaland’s diet and shared his findings:

Speaking strictly in terms of averages, a 160-pound male who is ‘moderately active’ can burn around 2,600 calories per day. That means eating as Erling Haaland would put that person in a daily caloric surplus of 3,400.

To lose a single pound of fat it takes a caloric deficit of 3,500 calories per week, or 500/day. Conversely, you would be in a nearly 1/lb surplus each day if you tried to eat like Erling Haaland for a week without matching his level of caloric burn.

And not to be lost in all of this is how he still has days where he’ll dunk a croissant in coffee/hot chocolate and eat to his heart’s delight because he’s still a man even if he presents as a cyborg. The man loves to eat.

Could you do it? Could you eat enough for an entire week, all 6,000 calories each day, to live like Erling Haaland for a week?
