There’s no other way to put it: Getting pink slipped sucks. Even if you despise ESPN, you have to feel for the 100+ people losing out on their dream jobs during the massive lay-off round of on-air talent today. Many people uprooted the lives and moved to Bristol just to take a stab at working at the mothership.
One of those people was SportsCenter anchor (and Parliament Funkadelic superfan) Darren M. Haynes. This gut-wrenching tweet about his daughter watching his final SportsCenter hosting appearance will put all in perspective. It will melt your heart.
A job is just a job. Repeat after me: It’s just a job. Sure, sometimes it seems like more than just a job when you’re chasing your dreams and putting food on the table, but at the end of the day, it’s nothing compared to your friends, family, and community.
Head up, Darren. You ain’t your average huckleberry hound.
Well at least I made my daughter proud in what will go down as my final @SportsCenter at ESPN pic.twitter.com/mPUe1dYyBU

Here’s the message Darren threw on Instagram. No doubt the world will be seeing big things from him soon:
