Fantasy football players have doled out many creative punishments to fans who finished last in their leagues over the years. Frankly, it’s become one of the best things about fantasy sports.
Fantasy football losers have had to endure brutal 9 x 9 x 9 challenges and 6 x 6 challenges. They have had to receive their punishments on planes and on TikTok. They have had to eat things, wear things, and even take the ACT.
On Monday, a brand new fantasy football punishment was introduced to the world at Kansas City’s Kauffman Stadium during the Royals game against the Boston Red Sox. Of course, the NESN broadcast team caught it all on camera.
“You think you lost a bet and got embarrassed? How about this guy?” the NESN broadcaster announced to the world as the camera zoomed in on the poor sucker in the upper deck.
“This is fantastic!” his broadcast partner chimed in. “All by himself. I don’t know what he’s wearing, but… (chuckles).”
“They told him, you gotta wear something bright, and that’s the sign, after losing that bet.”
“Little NASA onesie, what do we got going on here? Just came off the parachute?”
“He’s had to sit up there all by himself all game. Whatever he lost, he lost big.”
“They’re not even allowing him to have a beverage.”
While it certainly wasn’t the worst fantasy football punishment ever, it may have been one of the most widely seen. Views of the “astronaut” in the upper deck at Kauffman Stadium have crossed well over a million on social media.
By the way, the poor guy didn’t even get to enjoy a Royals win for his effort, as they ended up losing to Boston 3-1.
