Yesterday, baseball fans received the great news that the MLB lockout was coming to an end. Not only does this news mean that fans will have baseball to watch this year, but it also means the reopening of free agency.

More than any other year, that should mean some craziness is about to ensue. We are less than a month from the start of the MLB season and there are still some huge names available in free agency.

Freddie Freeman, Clayton Kershaw, Trevor Story, Nick Castellanos, and Carlos Correa are all still available as we get ready for the start of spring training. All of these names should be signing quickly and we’ve been given an indication of who the favorite is to sign one of these stars.

According to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi, the Chicago Cubs are the favorite to sign Carlos Correa.

After trading Javier Baez to the New York Mets at last season’s trade deadline, the Cubs are in need of a shortstop. They also set themselves up for this move financially with the Baez trade and by offloading other stars at the deadline.

Correa would also give the Cubs the star they desperately need after trading away so many big names. Correa is coming off of a season where he was selected for the All-Star game and won a Gold Glove.

Correa is a reliable bat in the middle of the order and provides great defense and the Chicago Cubs could make him the first big name to sign since the start of the lockout.
