Last week, the racing world was turned on its head when a rumor involving two-time F1 champion Fernando Alonso and singing superstar Taylor Swift began making its way around social media.

The rumor about Alonso and Swift possibly dating began when a gossip site published, “a couple of Spanish magazines have been posting about TS and Spanish F1 driver Fernando Alonso. According to them, the couple has been seeing each other for a week now. Nothing serious since they are both recently single.”

Of course, no one (everyone) believed the rumor despite the fact that the 33-year-old Swift did recently break up with Joe Alwyn after six years together and the 41-year-old Alonso also recently called it quits with his long time girlfriend Andrea Schlager.

Throw in the fact that Taylor Swift performed at the F1 event in Austin, Texas back in 2016, a tweet Fernando Alonso made in which he said he is “Feeling 33” (similar to the lyrics in Swift’s song “22”), and the trolljob Fernando Alonso laid on fans on TikTok after the rumors broke and well, the rumor fire was stoked.

Yeah…

Fast forward to this week and, because everyone wants it to be true, a reporter from Sky Sports asked Alonso if the rumors were true.

His response was a chuckle and that he was only worried about racing in Azerbaijan this week. (THAT’S NOT A DENIAL!)

Of course, as was his intention, Fernando Alonso’s response to the Taylor Swift dating question only served to stir the pot even more.

The video of his interview has been watched almost 200,000 times as of this writing and generated hundreds of comments.

“His laugh was enough to know what’s up,” another fan tweeted.

“Imagine we are all laughing and joking about it until somehow it becomes true lmfao,” another fan wrote.
