Things are getting a bit tense in Miami ahead of the Club World Cup opener at Hard Rock Stadium over the weekend. Earlier this week, it was reported that ICE and Customs and Border Patrol agents will be on site at Hard Rock Stadium, providing security for the event.
DHS confirmed that ICE and CBP agents will be on site “for security” at the start of the FIFA Club World Cup at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. ICE also reminded non-U.S. citizens to carry proof of legal status while attending the event.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino had no concerns about federal agents being present at the game.
“No, I don’t have any concerns about anything in the sense that we are very attentive to any security question, of course, the most important for us is to guarantee security for all the fans who come to the games, this is our priority,” Infantino said.
On Wednesday, a Telemundo party boat carrying FIFA execs and Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Cava was briefly detained by the Coast Guard and CBP agents.
A boat transporting individuals to a Telemundo party celebrating one year out from the World Cup was boarded by the coast guard. They checked the immigration status of the staff on the boat. The mayor of Miami-Dade, FIFA officials, and Telemundo leadership were present.

U.S. Coast Guard officials reportedly boarded the boat carrying Levine Cava and other VIP guests, stopping the group for nearly an hour in the middle of the ocean.
Following the kerfuffle, Telemundo abruptly canceled the event.
Although local immigration activist Thomas Kennedy tells New Times he heard from reporters on the boat that officials checked the captain’s immigration status, a U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) spokesperson emphasizes that the stop wasn’t immigration-related.
Telemundo issued a statement following the incident.
