Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is reacting to Tesla’s flying Tesla Roadster.
On Thursday, Tesla revealed the new Roadster during a presentation near Waco, Texas.
During the presentation, the Roadster showed off it’s new “flying” capabilities with thrusters underneath the car.

At the event, Musk revealed that the car will be available on the roads.

“This will be the actual car that’s on the roads,” Musk said of the car, which Tesla showed accelerating 0 to 60 miles per hour in one second. “It literally is just going to puff itself up, and uh, and be able to do this, these maneuvers whenever you’d like.”
While many questioned the legality of the flying car, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis assured everyone that it will be legal in his state.
We will make sure that it’s legal — at a minimum could be used to leapfrog golf carts in the Villages.

Musk was vague about whether the flying version of the car would be street legal, but said it would be a car people can own.
“Depends on your street… I’m not necessarily sure it’s legal in all jurisdictions. But there will be such a car that someone can own.”
🔥 LMAO! Elon Musk had the PERFECT answer after being asked whether or not his new 0.81 second 0-60mph Tesla Roadster is street legal
@elonmusk: “Uhhh.. YEAAAH. Depends on your street, but uhhh…” 🤣
“But it’ll be a BUYABLE car” 😂 https://t.co/UbCi8jgqTx

It seems like the ‘flying” version will not be street legal, but will be legal for people to own, and use in private settings.
Honest take: the Rocket trim can do short hops, flips and lifts via cold-gas thrusters, but it’s invite-only, seats one, and Tesla states it’s not approved for public roads. Production targets 2028. The Performance version is road-ready with suction for extreme grip, yet no sustained flight. This stays a high-end closed-course stunt machine, not everyday transport for normal drivers.
