Former NFL wide receiver Roddy White has some advice for Jake Paul.
Last month, Paul went viral when he revealed that he planned to try out for the NFL after his boxing career is over.
“I do have NFL aspirations after boxing,” Jake Paul said during an appearance on the a16z Podcast Network. “I want to play slot receiver, and so I think to get that experience, college first would be good so I could walk onto the Stanford team. I’m being serious. The idea of it happened today.”
Paul later doubled down and said he would easily make an NFL roster because he works harder than most players.
“I mean it’s pretty simple – just like when I started boxing, it’s funny to see the tweet deleters out there, non-believers, naysayers. I think there’s a lot of super mediocrity in the NFL and a lot of not good athletes,” Paul said.
“A lot of people dropping passes on a consistent basis. I have better hands, faster, stronger, and I work harder than them. Really all it’s going to take is me, after boxing, practicing some routes. I have a couple of teams and coaches who have already spoken with me and are interested in bringing me on. It’s going to be quite easy.”

While speaking with Hard Rock Bet, former NFL wide receiver Roddy White doesn’t think Paul would make an NFL roster.

“I don’t even know what position he would play. I know he was a wrestler in high school before taking up boxing. I was also a wrestler, so I know he’ll have a good level of athleticism, which will maybe give him a chance. Maybe he could play linebacker, running back, or tight end, but I’ve never seen him catch. But I would say he wouldn’t make it in the NFL at this point in his life.”
White went on to advise Paul to stay away from trying out for the NFL because things could get “really ugly” once he puts the pads on.
“Also, with the things he has said about NFL players in the past, I would advise him not to go out there.”
“He’s been disrespectful to football players before, so it would not be good for him if he went out to play in the NFL. It could get really ugly when they put those pads on.”
“If he really wants to play, maybe he should look at playing in another league outside of the NFL. I think he’d need to start there and work his way up to the next level.”
