Over the weekend, Buffalo Bills wide receiver Gabe Davis scored the opening touchdown in the game of the weekend, as the Bills took on their high-scoring AFC East rivals, the Miami Dolphins, in what was a crucial early season matchup.

After reeling in the catch for the opening points of the game, Davis then did a celebration that saw the pass catcher cover his face with his hand.

As it turns out, that celebration came as a result of stand-up comedian Shane Gillis pestering Davis to do it for weeks. Davis shared a video of Gillis talking about the celebration with the simple but hilarious caption “I did it.”

Billed as a bout between two of the division’s heavyweights, the Bills not only came out victorious but they dominated the Dolphins to the tune of a 28-point win.

Davis, 24 years old, was drafted out of the University of Central Florida by the Buffalo Bills in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

During his first two years in the league in 2020 and 2021, Davis made 15 starts and had 125 catches for 1148 yards. Last season, however, Davis started in 15 games and set career-high marks with 48 targets for 836 yards and seven touchdowns.

Davis has also developed a reputation as a clutch performer, as he put up 10 catches for 242 yards and five touchdowns in two games during their 2021 playoff run, thus earning him the nickname “Big Game Gabe” (as seen in the above tweet).

As for Gillis, his newest standup special Shane Gillis: Beautiful Dogs was released on Netflix back on September 5.

This weekend, the Bills will look to continue their hot start to the 2023 season — that, once again, has them looking like one of the NFL’s elite teams –when they take on Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars in London on Sunday, October 8 at 9:30 a.m. EST.
