New York Jets Wide Receiver Garrett Wilson Wonders Why Dolphins Receivers Are Always Open And He’s Not

New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson seems like one of the most talented young players at the position. He must be getting frustrated with a downright awful New York Jets offensive scheme and productivity.

After the team’s 30-0 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday that eliminated the Jets from playoff contention, Garrett Wilson sounded off on how other offenses make it look so much easier.

“I think they have a lot of pieces in their favor that make it easier to scheme. Tyreek goes down, they put Waddle in there and he goes for 150. And that’s, that’s the ball I grew up loving. But that’s not how it’s going to be. I gotta figure out how to be better, run better routes, be better in the meeting rooms, figure out how I can be involved early,” Wilson said, according to Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic.

Garrett Wilson raises a good point. The Dolphins having a competent quarterback in Tua Tagovailoa certainly helps that passing attack. But, even beyond that, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel is always scheming guys wide open in that offense. Even on a day when the Jets didn’t have to worry about the best receiver in the NFL in Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle still dominated a very good Jets secondary.

Meanwhile, the Jets offense is an absolute slog. They didn’t score at all on Sunday, and that’s not surprising. It’s the seven time in fourteen games that the Jets have been held to ten total points or less.

Even still, Wilson has managed to have a productive year. He’s in the top-25 in receiving yards with 882 receiving yards. Garrett Wilson will likely get his second-straight 1000-yard season to start his career, despite the terrible offense.

Hopefully, things will improve for Wilson next year if Aaron Rodgers can stay healthy.
