Jon Jones continues to hint at a return to the cage as he aims to make his heavyweight debut. However, nothing has come to fruition yet. Even so, UFC legend Georges St-Pierre reveals his expectations for Jones once he finally re-enters the octagon.
According to MMA Fighting, St-Pierre is beyond thrilled to see Jon Jones back in action. It’s been a while since we’ve last seen Jones in the cage. For that reason, some believe the former light-heavyweight champion might be washed. Even though he’s had his run-in with issues outside of the sport, Georges St-Pierre expects big things from the former UFC champ.
“I can’t wait. I’m a fan of Jon Jones, I like to see him fight. I can’t wait to see him come back. A lot of people are like, ‘Yeah, he was out for a long time.’ He was out for a long time, but he’s Jon Jones, you know what I mean? He’s arguably the best fighter of all time too. He can make a comeback and I think he’s going to be successful when he does.”
That’s high praise considering Georges St-Pierre himself is also considered one of the greatest UFC fighters of all time. For now, it’s unknown who Jon Jones will face in his heavyweight debut. There are some rumblings it will be Stipe Miocic or Francis Ngannou.
Hopefully, a fight is announced sometime in 2023. Until then, Georges St-Pierre is just like the rest of us. Sitting on pins and needles for the UFC to announce Jon Jones’ return.
