Georgia’s Fabricated Tales Of Disrespect Grow Taller After CFP Championship Win

The Georgia Bulldogs just became the first back-to-back champion in the College Football Playoff era. A decisive 65-7 win over TCU in the title game signified the program’s dominance in the sport.

From Day 1, they were considered a national title contender given the pieces on offense that were returning. But Kirby Smart and the Dawgs wouldn’t have you believe it.

They’ve been on tour of revenge, claiming disrespect from the media in the preseason. Smart and Co. would tell you that they’ve been doubted despite that preseason No. 3 ranking and overwhelming odds to make a repeat appearance in the SEC Championship Game.

Heck, many picked them to make the CFP even if they were to lose in that SEC Title matchup.

But with much of the media predicting a bounce back year for Bryce Young and Alabama, the Georgia football team created a chip to put on its own shoulder. And it worked.

The Bulldogs blew through the regular season, won an SEC Championship, and went back-to-back in the CFP. But the ridiculous stories of their perceived disrespect are becoming facetious.

Georgia says the football world doubted them all year long

Quarterback Stetson Bennett was one of the first to make headlines for saying that no one expected the Bulldogs to play for another championship. Before the title matchup with TCU, he had the following to say.

“There was a lot of people who doubted us – and I know people are gonna be like, ‘𝘯𝘰 𝘸𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘯’𝘵.’ – well, yeah you did.”

Star pass rusher Nolan Smith doubled down on that narrative, taking things a step further in his postgame interview.

“They thought we were gonna go 7-5, we end up perfect.”

Okay, he’s got to be trolling at this point. No one in their right mind picked the Dawgs to win seven games. Again, this was the East favorite to represent the SEC in the Championship Game. The preseason No. 3 team in the nation. Far from 7-5.

Kirby Smart really instilled that narrative in his football team, and the Georgia players rans with it. Fans, though, are already growing tired of the storyline.

One person said, “Fabricated disrespect. Classic.” Another joked, “Kirby had these guys thinking the media thought Missouri was going to be better than them.”

This fan wrote, “Kirby got elite propaganda going on in Athens if they believe this.”

Truly a master class in persuasion.
