Good News: Georgia State Is Going Dancing. Bad News: Their Coach Snapped His Achilles Celebrating

Georgia State beat Georgia Southern 38-36 in the Sun Belt Conference championship today, punching their ticket to the Big Dance in the process. Something to celebrate? Sure. It’s been 14 years since the Panthers have made a tournament appearance. But is it something to snap your achilles tendon over? May be a little aggressive.

But that’s what happened to Georgia State’s Head Coach, Ron Hunter.

Hunter was still in high spirits in the post game press conference, telling reporters “I haven’t jumped that high in 26 years”. He will wear a cast for the NCAA tournament and will have surgery when their run is over. So most likely after the first game.

Somewhere in Argentina, Martin Gramatica sheds a single tear.

The anti-drug people gave him a $50 savings bond for his brave contribution to crime-fighting, and upon the bond’s maturity 10 years later, he used it to buy his very first bag of marijuana.
