NBA Fans Are Calling Giannis Antetokounmpo ‘Fake Humble’ After He Shoved A Ladder Over Onto Philadelphia 76ers Arena Staff

As NBA superstars go, Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo has always come across as extremely down to earth. Antetokounmpo, who was born and raised in Greece, comes from humble beginnings and was a relatively late bloomer in the basketball world. Even after winning a pair of NBA MVP awards and an NBA Championship, he’s still managed to keep that humble image.

But not everyone is convinced. A number of NBA fans are convinced that the Oreo and smoothie-loving big man is just putting on an act. Honestly, even as a Philly sports fan, that idea has always come across as a bit cynical to me. But maybe they’re onto something.

We haven’t seen much in the way of Giannis lashing out or doing something unbecoming in the past. That is, until Friday night. Antetokounmpo had a rough night in the Bucks’ 110-102 loss to the shorthanded Philadelphia 76ers. He notched 25 points and 14 rebounds, but shot just 4-of-15 from the foul line.

After the game, Antetokounmpo came back out to the court to work on his free throw shooting. The 76ers arena workers, however, were already working on checking the rims and breaking down the hoops for the night.

What happened next has put a stain on Antetokounmpo’s previously clean reputation.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Pushes Ladder Over After Argument With Arena Staff

Antetokounmpo began shooting free throws when Philadelphia 76ers big man Montrezl Harrell came back out to work out as well. It’s typical to see home team players working out after the game. Harrell says he asked Antetokounmpo to move. But after the star refused, the two got in a confrontation.

Antetokounmpo then went to the other end of the court. But arena workers had already been working on that basket. That seemed to upset to Bucks superstar, who shoved the ladder aside until it fell, nearly striking arena staff.

The incident caused a number of basketball fans to claim that this was truly indicative of Antetokounmpo’s personality.

Antetokounmpo has yet to offer his side of the incident. But regardless of what he says, it’s not a great look.
