Gio Reyna simply can not catch a break. The 19-year-old American picked up yet another injury during Borussia Dortmund’s match against Vfb Stuttgart on Friday night and left the pitch in tears.
The teenage sensation has battled injuries all year long and had only just come back from a hamstring injury before picking up his latest knock after just six minutes of play.
Reyna and the USMNT staff both can’t be pleased with the latest development with the 2022 World Cup approaching. He is a key piece to the USMNT squad, and him being healthy before the Americans do battle in a tough group this fall is key.
Reyna couldn’t help but break into tears after exiting the match on Friday.

This is unreal. This kid doesn’t deserve this to keep happening. https://t.co/1t38my7yl9

So sad to watch man. Hope he can get fit and stay fit before the World Cup. Such a great talent getting hampered by injuries. https://t.co/lQdtD2SfB6

Gotta feel for the kid. Can't be easy to keep re-injuring his right hamstring after 8 months. Odd that he was fine playing a decent amount of minutes for the US in a short time period and can't seem to touch the field for Dortmund without tweaking it. https://t.co/Ipoa1xm8gB

This is tough to watch. Gio Reyna has battled multiple injuries the last several months and still maintained his status as a key part of #USMNT’s qualifying run. https://t.co/3QDwlQW8ck
