A ridiculous Ump Show took over an exciting college baseball game between Grand Canyon and Nebraska on Sunday. An Antelope player was egregiously tossed for celebrating a game-changing play at the dish.

The ejection came in the fifth inning of play with GCU trailing the Cornhuskers by four runs. With the bases loaded, utility man Tyler Wilson stepped into the batter’s box.

Cue the dramatics.

Wilson blasted a towering drive that sailed over the fence in right field. That mammoth shot erased an 8-4 deficit and gave the β€˜Lopes new life.

Wilson gazed at his homer as he strolled down the first base line. He then flipped his bat in excitement, though with no disrespect directed at the Nebraska dugout.

Unfortunately, the man behind the plate deemed it ejection-worthy.

As soon as Wilson rounded the bases, an Ump Show took over as he gestured for the utility man’s removal from the field.

College baseball fans on social media didn’t agree.

β€œDisgusting ejection, home plate ump should be embarrassed, nothing directed towards the other team, just flipped his bat.”

β€œTyler Wilson deserves an apology personally from the clown behind the plate.”

β€œFUN IS NOT ALLOWED IN BASEBALL! -The ump, probably.”

This is in the running for worst ejection of the young season if the bat flip truly was the sole reason for the removal. Let the kid celebrate the impact play.
