Video Captures Choas Erupting As Gunshots Trigger Evacuation In St. Louis Soccer Game

A soccer game in St. Louis, Missouri was briefly halted due to nearby gunshots. Fans were evacuated from their seats amid the scary scene.

Police have provided an update on the situation. Video captured the hectic moments from inside the stadium.

No one in the venue was harmed. Everyone was able to return home safely following the chaos. One person is reportedly in custody.

Soccer game stopped due to gunshots.

The game was being played at Energizer Park between the St. Louis City 2 and Austin FC II. Those teams both play on the MLS Next Pro circuit.

Austin entered at 11-1-3 and riding an eight-game winning streak. St. Louis was 7-3-5. Both teams would be forced to pause their action early in the contest due to unforeseen circumstances.

A shooting occurred a few blocks away from the stadium.

The gunshots echoed throughout the venue. Many believed they came from inside Energizer Park. It sparked hysteria as fans quickly evacuated to seek shelter. Local law enforcement responded to the incident quickly.

The SLMPD department alerted us to an incident several blocks from the stadium at 17th and Chestnut during the club’s CITY2 match.  In close coordination with the league and local authorities, with safety as our number one priority, the game was suspended and later resumed, once given the all clear.”

Police confirmed that at least one person was in custody. They also said that one person showed up to the hospital with a gunshot wound. The department is investigating the person’s involvement.

Following that brief moment of confusion, play was able to resume. Austin FC II picked up a shutout win over St. Louis City 2 on the road.
