Golf’s unofficial ‘fifth major’ got off to a hot start with Hayden Buckley hitting a hole-in-one on the island green at TPC Sawgrass during The Players Championship.

At approximately 8:59 AM, the PGA Tour tweeted “Will we get an ace on the Island Green this week?” They announced that every shot on #17 at TPC Sawgrass would be a featured hole on ESPN+ bonus coverage.

Less than 20 minutes later, at 9:17 AM, the PGA Tour tweeted this magnificent shot of Hayden Buckley’s ace at the most famous hole in golf.

Buckley has only played in 95 events as a professional (61 cuts made). He has a 2019 win on the Canadian Tour and a 2020 win on the Korn Ferry Tour, this is all after he turned pro in 2018.

Hayden Buckley is currently ranked 107th in the OWGR points standings but 27th in the current FedEx Cup Standings.

His 2023 has been hot so far and a win feels like it’s coming. Buckley finished solo 2nd at the Sony Open In Hawaii and T-5th at the Zozo Championship.

That brings his 2023 earnings so far to $1,629,364 which is more than the $1,303,036 he earned in the 2022 season.
