The Charlotte Hornets find themselves in last place of the entire NBA and things aren’t looking great.
After a brutal overtime loss to the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night, head coach Steve Clifford explains what’s going on in detail.
According to Bally Sports: Hornets, Clifford sat down to begin his post-game press conference. Before any media members could say anything, the veteran head coach told everyone in the room “you don’t have to ask questions or anything like that.”
Then, the Hornets’ head coach went on a rant about how terrible his team is at playing defense. Evidently, Clifford blames the player’s lack of effort on the defensive end for their struggles this season.
“Until we care about something besides how many points we score, we’re not going to win much.”

Say what you want about Steve Clifford but he makes some valid points. Charlotte tends to light up the scoreboard but their defense is incredibly lacking. For the Hornets to turn things around, something has to change. Specifically speaking, the defensive effort must improve.
We’ll see if the team has what it takes to do that. Considering they’re dead last doesn’t help the situation. The Hornets have been struggling for years outside of this season. It’s getting to the point where a miracle has to happen for Charlotte to turn things around.
Look for the Hornets to possibly improve on the defensive end on Friday night as they take on the Atlanta Hawks.
