Brooke Hogan has revealed how her late father, Hulk Hogan, irreversibly damaged their relationship after he slept with one of her closest friends.
“A major turning point came after he slept with my friend Christiane [Plante],” Brooke Hogan told Us in an interview this week. “I forgive people very easily — sometimes probably too easily — and I forgave him. But something between us changed afterward. I don’t think he ever related to me in quite the same way again.”
Brooke Hogan and her parents have had a rocky relationship
Last March, Hulk Hogan’s ex-wife and Brooke’s mother, Linda Hogan, took to social media to reveal that she hadn’t spoken to Brooke in years and blamed her ex-husband for her daughter’s estrangement. Brooke Hogan responded to her mother and claimed she had been mentally, verbally, and physically abused since childhood.
Brooke Hogan said she tried to mend her relationship with her parents, only to be repeatedly pulled “into darkness” with them. In 2023, Brooke reportedly asked her dad to remove her from his will because she didn’t want to be involved in any family drama after his death.
In 2008, Christiane Plante told the National Inquirer that she had an affair with the WWE Hall of Famer while he and his wife, Linda, “privately knew their marriage was ending.”
Brooke Hogan had to get away from her family
“Then the divorce happened, and our entire family structure changed,” Brooke told Us. “Over time, things became increasingly complicated until eventually the relationship I had always believed could survive anything couldn’t survive what was happening around us anymore. That’s probably the biggest thing I wish people understood about the Hogan family: Public perception reduces families into heroes and villains. Real families aren’t that simple.”
Brooke Hogan clarified that she could still love her father while also being honest about how he harmed her. She can also appreciate both the amazing things her family has given her and the fact that the dynamic eventually proved untenable for her.
“People sometimes assume that because our relationship became complicated later, I must be rewriting everything that came before it. I’m not,” she said. “The foundation between my dad and me was incredibly strong. It survived public scandals, private pain, divorce, enormous changes in our family and periods of estrangement because underneath all of it there was a bond that was very real.”
