It has become abundantly clear that this offseason is going to be a messy one in Indianapolis. It seems that there is absolutely no support left in the Colts organization for Carson Wentz. His head coach wouldn’t endorse him after the season ended. His GM wouldn’t either.

Now the owner of the Indianapolis Colts seems to be taking shots at him on Twitter.

That sure sounds like he’s ready to move on from Carson Wentz to a QB he thinks will be able to score 30 points in the playoffs. He threw the defense comment in there, but that was really just to try and provide some cover for the purpose of the tweet.

The Colts defense only allowed 30 points 4 times all season. 2 of them were overtime. One was in garbage time against the Jets.

There’s just one problem with Irsay’s pursuit of a better quarterback than Carson Wentz. I’m not really sure where Jim Irsay thinks he’s going to find one of those.

Carson Wentz was pretty much an average NFL starter for most of this season. He was 18th in the league in passing yards and 10th in touchdowns while being among the best in the league at avoiding interceptions.

The available free agent class this offseason is going to be headlined by players like Jimmy Garoppolo, Teddy Bridgewater, and Jameis Winston. Those aren’t really upgrades over Wentz.

The Colts also don’t have a first round pick this season due to their trade for Carson Wentz, so they aren’t finding a replacement in the draft.

That basically leaves acquiring Aaron Rodgers as their only option to upgrade. Maybe it could happen, but there are better options out there for Rodgers.

At the end of the day, this could just turn into another confidence shattering offseason for Carson Wentz where he ends up starting for the same team next season.

Maybe they’ll put in a call to Nick Foles or Jalen Hurts before the start of next season.
