This Indonesian Is Being Dubbed ‘The World’s Fastest Soccer Player,’ And This Clip Shows Exactly Why

If you bros aren’t up to speed with Indonesian First Division soccer, what are you doing with your life? Just kidding, I didn’t even know there was an Indonesian First Division soccer division until the clip of this roadrunner went viral.

The dude’s name is Terens Puhiri, and before this week, the 21-year-old was a little known player for Borneo FC. Now, the 5’6” winger is being dubbed the ‘fastest soccer player in the world,’ by sports media sites and Twitter heads alike.

Last month, Manchester City’s Leroy Sane became the fastest player in the Premier League after he was recorded running at 22.05 mph in the 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge. Extended over 100 meters, Sane would have clocked a 10.16 second 100-meter dash. For reference, Usain Bolt ran a 9.81 100 meter in the 2016 Olympics.

Watching Puhuri and Sane battle for a loose ball would actually make me interested in soccer.

Matt’s love of writing was born during a sixth grade assembly when it was announced that his essay titled “Why Drugs Are Bad” had taken first prize in D.A.R.E.’s grade-wide contest. The anti-drug people gave him a $50 savings bond for his brave contribution to crime-fighting, and upon the bond’s maturity 10 years later, he used it to buy his very first bag of marijuana.
