There Have Been Some Insane Bets In Vegas On The Warriors To Beating The Jazz This Series

Not many NBA fans are giving the Utah Jazz a fighting chance against the Warriors this series, despite the Jazz winning 50 regular season games, eliminating the Clippers with relative ease, and being the only team to beat the Warriors in the last 20 games of the regular season. The Warriors have hit their stride with a first round sweep of the Trail Blazers, and on paper, the Jazz simply don’t have the fire power to win out of seven games.

No one knows this more than Vegas, who according to Uproxx, placed Golden State as a bonkers -10000 favorite to win the series at Westgate SuperBook (note: the Cavs at -600 were the next largest favorite in the second round). Yesterday, hours before Golden State tipped off with Utah, the Westgate SuperBook had taken just one bet on the Warriors to beat the Jazz in the seven-game series — a $50,000 bet at -10,000 odds. Since the Warriors pulled out the 12-point W last night, that man spent $50,000 to win $500.

Lets take a quick break to watch poetry in motion from last night.

Another lunatic at Las Vegas sportsbook operator CG Technology put $576,000 on Golden State to win Tuesday night’s game straight-up. He ended up hauling in $36,000.

According to ESPN, a small-time bettor put down $200 on the Warriors to win the series at -7,000 odds. If the Warriors win, that dude will take home an astounding $2.85.

That’s what we call, in the industry, ‘fuck you money.’

The anti-drug people gave him a $50 savings bond for his brave contribution to crime-fighting, and upon the bond’s maturity 10 years later, he used it to buy his very first bag of marijuana.
