The Iowa Hawkeyes Have Broken Vegas Oddsmakers In The Most Hilarious Way

The Iowa Hawkeyes offense is bad.

How bad?

Well, so bad that it appears that the Hawkeyes have completely and utterly broken Vegas oddsmakers.

Two weeks ago, Iowa tied the record for the lowest Vegas over/under  in college football in past 20 years. The total for the Hawkeyes game against the Minnesota Golden Gophers was 31.5.

The previous record was set twice in 2022, both in games involving Iowa. First against Minnesota (again), and then later against Kentucky.

Each time, the Hawkeyes (and their esteemed opponents) for away to hit the under.

Knowing this, Vegas oddsmakers broke the record yet again when they set the opening over/under for Iowa’s game against Northwestern at 30.5.

Despite bettors insisting that the under could not possibly hit again, and moving the line up to 32.5, the inevitable did, in fact, happen.

The Hawkeyes topped the Wildcats 10-7 in Wrigley Field. Not only did they hit the under, but they blew it out of the water completely.

This week, Iowa welcomes to Rutgers to Kinnick Stadium. And oddsmakers have decided they will not be fooled again.

The total for over-under for the contest opened at 28.5. This not only breaks all four Iowa’s previous records, but sets a record dating back to 1995, the first year that college football over-unders began officially being tracked.

Iowa interim athletic director Beth Goetz recently announced that Hawkeyes offensive coordinator Brian Feretnz would not return in 2024.

Goetz claimed that the announcement happened mid-season in order to “provide clarity” for the program going forward.

But Ferentz is still set to remain with the program throughout the completion 2023 season.

And it appears the over-under totals will continue to drop until morale improves.

How low will they go? That answer is anyone’s guess.

But it appears even the folks in Vegas are stumped at this point.
