Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant and Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green were two of the stars of the NBA offseason.
The Dubs bounced the upstart Grizz from the Western Conference semifinals last season, 4-2. But Morant missed the last three games of that series with a knee injury suffered when diving for a loose ball.
That led to an offseason feud between the two stars which largely played out over social media. Morant said that the Grizzlies were “living rent-free” in the heads of the Warriors.
Never one to let anything slide, Green fired right back with a tweet of his own.
We traded that real estate in @JaMorant the property value was higher in Boston https://t.co/X7Du6zSiZF

Morant then suggested the two teams settle the feud on the court during an NBA Christmas Day showdown. Green seemed to love the idea.

The teams eventually got their wish as the NBA scheduled the game as part of a loaded Christmas day slate. Green then complimented Morant on using his voice and his star power to leverage the league.
That’s the power of your voice Young! Let’s goooo! Bring the fam to the crib for dinner after https://t.co/xs8GpKkQtE

Now it appears that Green may not be on the court for that game. The four-time NBA All-Star is facing serious punishment from the Warriors’ organization for a practice punch that knocked out teammate Jordan Poole.
Morant, of course, had to get his two cents in about the video of the punch.

Not everyone immediately understood Morant’s tweet. Thankfully, there was someone around to quickly offer an explanation.
Morant tweets an eyes emoji. This is likely referencing a recent video that surfaced which depicted Warriors forward Draymond Green punching teammate Jordan Poole during practice. Morant is surprised that Green would do such a thing, and is voicing his disbelief in this tweet.

Add yet another chapter to what is quickly becoming one of the NBA’s best rivalries. Unfortunately, the two teams won’t meet before their scheduled Dec. 25 contest. Golden State opens the season against the Los Angeles Lakers on Oct. 18. While the Grizzlies begin their new campaign the next night against the New York Knicks.
But something tells us this isn’t the last of the banter between Green and Morant.
