  • Ja (Raffe) has been traded to Utah.
  • The Memphis native will call a new place home.
  • The Grizzlies point guard will surely be upset.

It’s an extremely sad day in the city of Memphis, Tenn. as Ja has been traded to Utah.

Not Ja Morant, the city of Memphis wouldn’t let Morant leave town, but instead Morant’s namesake, Ja Raffe.

According to KUTV, Ja Raffe has joined Utah’s Hogle Zoo, but will be quarantined for 30 days before meeting the other two giraffes at the zoo.

Back in November of 2020, a baby giraffe was born at the Memphis Zoo, which cleverly picked the name ‘Ja Raffe.’ Morant got to meet the baby giraffe shortly after he was born and referred to him as his son.

“If I ever do the dunk contest, I’m going to take my son with me. I’m going to jump over him,” Morant said after meeting the giraffe.

Morant went on Instagram Live with the giraffe when meeting it and was even joking around asking if he was coming to the crib for Thanksgiving that next week. Morant’s dad was on site as well and booped the giraffe on the nose.

The average height of a giraffe is anywhere between 16.4 and 19.7 feet, so Morant may have a little trouble jumping over him if he ever does take part in the dunk contest.

Maybe Ja Raffe will get traded back to Memphis one day because apparently zoos trade animals between themselves pretty often.

The 901 will miss you, Ja Raffe.
