Jackson Mahomes is still facing at least one charge stemming from an incident that unfolded in a Kansas City restaurant last year, but it appears he’s off the hook when it comes to the most serious allegations he was facing.

The younger brother of Patrick Mahomes has spent the past few years doing everything in his power to ride his famous sibling’s coattails while rubbing plenty of people the wrong way in the process.  It was somewhat easy to describe that hatred as “irrational,” but it became a bit easier to justify based on what unfolded in 2023.

In March, we learned Jackson was at the center of a police investigation stemming from an incident that allegedly unfolded at Aspen’s, a restaurant in the Kansas City suburb of Overland Park owned by a woman who claimed Mahomes had forcibly kissed her multiple times without her consent after wrapping his hand around her neck.

In May, Mahomes was formally charged with multiple felony counts of aggravated sexual battery in addition to misdemeanor battery (the latter of which stemmed from accusations he shoved a waiter inside the restaurant the same night).

Aspen’s question closed over the summer after being subjected to repeated acts of vandalism and experiencing a steep drop in revenue linked to the attention generated by a case that has slowly worked its way through the legal system.

Now, Fox4 reports a significant new development, as prosecutors have reportedly decided to drop the sexual battery charges against Mahomes after the woman who initially filed the complaint informed them she no longer intends to cooperate (a judge will have to officially sign off on that decision at a hearing on Wednesday).

According to the outlet, Mahomes’ attorney responded to the news with a statement that reads:

“Like I said from the beginning, Jackson has done nothing wrong. We had full confidence that the truth of the matter would ultimately be revealed.

The defense will reserve further comment until the remaining count is disposed of.”

That “remaining count” is the aforementioned misdemeanor battery charge, but based on that response, it appears his legal team is confident it won’t amount to anything when everything is said and done.
