It Wouldn’t Be NFL Football In Jacksonville Without The First Round Draft Pick Shredding His Knee In Minicamp

And to think…after going 5-11 last year, there were so many high hopes for the Jagu-oohhh shit.

Last year, the Jacksonville Jaguars lost their No. 3 overall NFL Draft selection, Dante Fowler, just one day into rookie minicamp when the defensive end blew out his knee and missed the entire 2015 season.

This year…well it wouldn’t be NFL football in Jacksonville without a repeat, right?

Sources indicate that the Jags’ No. 5 overall pick out of Florida State, Jalen Ramsey, has suffered a tear in his knee. Get the poor dude a Jag Rag or something.

Pro Football Talk reports on what might be the beginning of another year of heartbreak for the Jaguar faithful:

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that cornerback Jalen Ramsey has suffered a knee injury that’s currently being characterized as a small meniscus tear. He adds that a second opinion is coming next week and that Ramsey could be back for the start of camp “if all goes well.”

If the initial characterization is correct, it is a less significant injury than the torn ACL that defensive end Dante Fowler suffered last season. Given the pending second opinion, though, there will likely be some breath holding around the Jags in the next few days.

UPDATE 3:24 p.m. ET: The Jaguars confirmed that Ramsey suffered a small tear to the meniscus in his right knee in a workout and that he’ll have a second opinion next week.

This team can never catch a break, man.
