Doug Pederson Did His Best Ted Lasso Impression Following Dramatic Jacksonville Jaguars Win

Biggest Winner Of Frank Reich's Firing? Jaguars Coach Doug Pederson!

The Jacksonville Jaguars have been arguably the NFL’s most surprising team. The team was not picked by anyone to win the AFC South coming into the year, but they captured the division title.

A lot of that has to do with coach Doug Pederson. Pederson won the Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles five years ago, but was fired after the disappointing 2020 season for the Eagles.

You’d think that he would’ve been highly-sought after on the coaching market. But, he wasn’t and the Jaguars were the only team to give him serious interest.

But, he proved why he is once again considered to be one of the NFL’s best coaches. Pederson, who had Carson Wentz on the brink of an MVP award in 2017 before a late-season injury, worked his magic with Trevor Lawrence. Lawrence, who went first overall to the team in the 2021 NFL draft, struggled under Urban Meyer last year.

The Clemson product took a big step forward, though. Lawrence completed 66% of his passes for 4113 yards and 25 touchdowns against just 8 interceptions this year. That was a big help as the team went 9-8 to nip the Tennessee Titans for the division in week 18.

But, they seemed destined for an early exit in the playoffs. Lawrence threw four picks in the first half and the Jaguars trailed 27-0.

But, they rallied, and they came back and won, 31-30, in dramatic fashion on a last-second field goal by Riley Patterson as time expired.

After the game, Doug Pederson spoke to the team in the locker room. He sounded a lot like the fictional soccer coach Ted Lasso, from the Apple TV show of the same name.

And, the speech was praised on Twitter.

Congrats, Jaguars fans.
