Trevor Lawrence Continued An Unreal Personal Streak With Comeback Win

Trevor Lawrence has been the golden boy of the quarterback world for quite some time now. The Cartersville, Georgia prospect established himself as the best quarterback in his graduating class at a young age and was heavily recruited.

Of course, we all know that he ended up at Clemson, the same school that Deshaun Watson, the quarterback whose Georgia High School records he broke, also attended. There, he had one of the greatest college careers ever.

Lawrence took over from Kelly Bryant after four games in his true freshman season. All he did was lead the Tigers to an undefeated season and a shellacking of Alabama in the national title game. As a sophomore, Lawrence dominated again, only to lose to Joe Burrow’s LSU juggernaut in the title game. And, in his final season at Clemson, he took them to the playoff once again, only to lose to Ohio State in blowout fashion in the College Football Playoff Semifinals.

After going first overall to the Jaguars, he a disaster season with Urban Meyer in charge. But, this year, Jacksonville turned it around under head coach Doug Pederson and found themselves in the playoffs after an AFC South-clinching win over the Titans last Saturday.

After last Saturday’s win, a peculiar stat came to light. It turns out, Lawrence is undefeated on games played on Saturdays starting in his high school career.

But, that streak was in jeopardy when Jacksonville fell behind the Los Angeles Chargers 27-0 behind four first-half interceptions from Lawrence Saturday night.

Thankfully, the streak remarkably lives on, as Jacksonville won in dramatic fashion, 31-30.

I’m sure Jacksonville fans want their quarterback and team to play on Saturday in next week’s divisional round.
