Recruiting drama is unfolding in Gainesville as a top prospect is reportedly asking out of his commitment. Jaden Rashada signed with Florida in the early signing period, but he’s apparently backing out of that pledge this week.

Rashada is one of the most highly regarded signal callers in the nation. The gunslinger ranks as the No. 29 overall player in the class of 2023 according to 24/7 Sports, which has landed him five-star status.

Rumors of a potential departure from the program began to surface earlier this week. While he’d signed with the Gators in December, he failed to enroll at the university.

Rashada’s commitment to Florida was a bit of a shock as he originally joined Miami’s class last June. Many said an NIL deal with the Gators was at the root of the late flip, and now, those same NIL rumors appear to be the pairing’s demise.

Message boards are saying that the reason for Jaden Rashada’s wanting out of his Letter of Intent is due to an NIL deal that never got done. They say an agreement was made, but now one side is not living up to its end of the bargain.

On3 Sports was the first to report the requested release, though both Jaden Rashada and his father are denying the reports at this time. The quarterback sent a direct message to the site in response to the developing story, saying, “Where did y’all get this?”

Despite the denials from the Rashada family, fans have been quick to post their reactions to the news.

One Miami fan said, “Florida is bouncing checks, man. Recruiting is wild.” Another person wrote, “This whole recruitment of Jaden Rashada has been a whirlwind.”

The drama continues to unfold in Gainesville, and it seems far from over.
