The Florida State football team added to its offensive line unit with the commitment of freshman Ja’Elyne Matthews. The 6-foot-6, 340-pound tackle will join the Seminoles this fall with the hopes of making an immediate impact.
Matthews boasts size, strength and athleticism. Still, his off-the-field abilities might be more impressive!
The offensive lineman hails from New Jersey, landing three-star status as a high school recruit. He initially enrolled at his home state school Rutgers before entering the transfer portal three months later.
Matthews jumped at an offer from the Seminoles. He made his pledge to play for the program on Wednesday.

Prior to that transfer decision, Matthews and his family sat down with Todderick Hunt of NJ.com for an interview. The group revealed his second-sight when it comes to successfully predicting the gender of babies in the womb.
Ja’Elyne Matthews has a gift.
“Ja’Elyne is gifted… He has what the world would call intuition – that knows things, that can feel people’s feelings and emotions. On the spiritual side, we call it prophetic.”

Matthews’ mom recalled how he knew his brothers and sisters’ genders before they were born. “I’ve been pregnant 11 times and have soon-to-be eight kids,” she said. “He’s been to a lot of doctors’ offices. Ja’Elyne has pointed to women, ‘Oh, you’re carrying a boy,’ and he was right. ‘Oh, you’re carrying a girl.’ He predicted what I was carrying plenty of times.”
His father backed the stories. “Ja’Elyne has the cheat code. God gave him this height, this weight, and the gift. He’s blessed. People say that all the time… No, he’s blessed.”
The legend goes further. Matthews once insisted that his mom was pregnant before she even knew. A pregnancy test came back negative. He said, ‘Try again tomorrow. You’re pregnant.’ The next day, the test was positive.
Ja’Elyne Matthews’ gift is certainly impressive, but maybe a bit useless in the grand scheme of things. Or is it?
The lineman might have the ability to single-handedly rid Tallahassee of the gender reveal parties that have grown so extravagant, and somewhat annoying, in recent years. That would certainly appease that crowd that believes they are ruining the world.
The reveals are beginning to subtly invade pro sports, too. MLB star Bryce Harper did a gender reveal for his fourth child during an at-bat at a game this year. He struck out while swinging a baby blue bat. NBA player Austin Reaves did a similar reveal for his brother and sister in-law by donning pink sneakers.
Maybe Ja’Elyne Matthews can help cut down on the madness. In the very least, he’ll hopefully land some sort of on-brand NIL deal with the ‘Noles.
